Priscilla Queen of the Desert is a heart-warming and uplifting tale of three drag artist friends who hop aboard a battered old bus aka “Priscilla” and go off on the adventure of a life-time through the Australian Outback, to perform in Alice Springs. On the way they find friendship, love and far more than they ever dreamed of.
With a dazzling array of over 500 award-winning costumes, 200 extraordinary head-dresses and a hit parade of dancefloor favourites including I Will Survive, Hot Stuff, Finally, Boogie Wonderland, Go West, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and I Love The Nightlife, this wildly fresh and funny musical is a journey to the heart of FABULOUS! #PriscillaSA
Since PRISCILLA opened in Cape Town over a week ago, to critical acclaim, the show has received nightly standing ovations and rave reviews. The rapturous applause at every performance is loud enough to almost literally lift the roof of Artscape’s Opera House. Accolades from media and audiences alike are synonymous in their delight at seeing the multi-talented 28 member all-South African “Priscilla” cast on the stage.
Cape Town businesswoman, Janine Smith firmly believes that “anyone who experiences Priscilla and is not WOWED, doesn’t have a pulse. I can’t begin to explain what an extraordinary extravaganza this is. You HAVE to see it.” On line reviewer, Rebecca Butler of DK Expressions says “I think I need to read the dictionary to learn more adjectives, because words cannot describe how LAVISH this show is”. WeekendSpecial.co.za sums up the show: “Without giving too much away – it’s really awesome to watch the sets, the costumes and the cast surprise one in every scene – take our word for it that Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Musical is totally worth the visit.” The fervor of Cape Town audiences has spread to the highveld, setting the demand for tickets at a premium, says Showtime Management’s Hazel Feldman who encourages patrons to book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
