The cream of the British entertainment industry gathered at the O2 in London on Wednesday night, to discover who the public have voted for, as their favorites in The 21st National Television Awards.
The event hosted by Dermont O’Leary saw Downton Abbey beat off the competition: Casualty; Doctor Who; and Broadchurch – to be crowned the 2016 winner of Best Drama at this year’s National Television Awards.
The 2016 NTA Challenge Show award went to The Great British Bake Off.
Serial Drama Performance was won by Danny Dyer for his performance in Eastenders.
Poldark actor Aidan Turner received a special Impact Award for his performance in Poldark.
The 2016 International National Television Award went to The Big Bang Theory.
The 2016 award for Entertainment Programme went to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The TV Presenter Award went to Ant and Dec, known to South African viewers for their hosting skills in Britain’s Got Talent. This is the 15th year in a row that they have won this award.
A Special Recognition Award went to Billy Connelly
