Reconciliation Day is the 16th December and this year, it falls on a Wednesday. As the brand that owns Wacky Wednesday, Steers spotted a real opportunity to encourage South Africans to put their #BeefAside.
Having served South African consumers their share of legendary, 100% pure beef, flame grilled burgers for almost 60 years, Steers invites us to commemorate Reconciliation Day by doing something different this holiday season. Share a delicious Wacky Wednesday! And not just with anyone, but with your boss, best friend or even your frenemy – put your #BeefAside or use this as an opportunity to spread some kindness.
“This movement aspires to bring unity whilst paying homage to this day in South African history; and we encourage all South Africans to share some kindness at the same time,” says Steers Marketing Executive, Adolf Fourie. “On Wednesday, 16th of December 2015, Steers will unite the nation through the proudly South African tradition of a Wacky Wednesday special.”
“This Wacky Wednesday campaign adds a new twist to an already established icon. The creative team had an idea to produce an interactive press ad that literally brought two burgers together. A prize of Wacky Wednesdays for a month for you and your ex-beef mate encourages engagement on social media,” explains Adam Weber, Executive Creative Director at Joe Public.
